Australian Labradoodle Dog Behavior – Fear of Thunder

We just had a rainstorm with thunder the other day and one of our clients asked us about what to do about an Australian Labradoodle puppy or dog scared of thunder – we hope the below helps.

To be afraid of thunder is not uncommon for any kind of dog or Australian Labradoodle. What is unusual is how you might consider helping your Australian Labradoodle through these difficult times.

Petting your whining Australian Labradoodle in an attempt to comfort may in fact be the wrong thing to do. In essence, you are reinforcing the whining behavior during the storm.

Instead, try distracting your Australian Labradoodle by inviting him or her to do something else and praise that activity. Most importantly, make sure your Australian Labradoodle dog or puppy is in a safe place in the home away from windows and other glass…just to make sure his/her fear will not lead to injury.
