Kim and Mollie,
I was going to call you, but I didn’t think I would be able to get the words out. Our dear, sweet Marley from Nora and Eddie’s first litter was hit by a car on Saturday and died almost instantly. We are so devastated that we can hardly function.
I will never forgive myself for letting her out off leash to go to the car to pick up Simon from his music lesson. I guess I got over-confident in her obedience skills and just thought it was a quick trip, etc. She ran into our quiet street just as a car was coming by and I lost her right before my eyes.
She was by far the best dog we have ever had in our family and it feels like our hearts will never mend. Did I tell you that she was one of only two dogs in a class of about fifteen that passed her Canine Good Citizenship? We were looking into therapy work for her.
Please encourage your puppy families to be extra vigilant about leashing their labradoodles when outside of the home/fence. In that one instant I lost our precious little girl and will always regret that moment that I didn’t click that leash on her.
Madeline
