Did you know that our dogs are bilingual?

Wednesday, February 24th, 2010

Thank you Grace for your emails and updates on Benny, we always enjoy reading about how he is doing!

Kim and Mollie,

Benny just continues to be the most amusing dog. This clever little guy somehow knows when it’s dinner time (5:30pm). No matter where I am in the house, he will tap on my foot. At first I thought it was a coincidence that he would come find me at 5:30pm but after about 4 nights in a row, I’ve started to believe he’s got some sort of inner clock. My Mom also commands him (in Korean) to sit on his hind legs, with front 2 paws stretched out to ask for a treat. This makes him bilingual, I guess. ha ha.

Best regards,

Grace

Kim and Mollie,

I just had to send you these pictures.  This is Tucker’s favorite winter sport; we call it snow swimming because that’s exactly what it looks like.  The pictures were taken at  Boom Lake B.C.  last Friday.  The snow was fantastic and of course Tucker was all for it.

Cleaning tips for your Manor Lake Australian Labradoodle

Thursday, February 18th, 2010

Pup-Perfect Cleaning Tips
Tricks of the Trade
By Tom McNulty
McNulty-PupPerfectCleaning-200_1

Winter’s often-arctic temperatures don’t inspire long walks or afternoons in the park with the dog. Like us, our canine pals spend more time indoors, which—because they’re biological creatures who shed and are prone to the occasional gastrointestinal indiscretion—creates more potential “clean-up ops” for us. Here are some quick tips for dealing with the inevitable.

•Fur on the furniture? Use a piece of terry cloth to brush it to one spot, then pick it up; a slightly dampened sponge or rubber gloves also work well as picker-uppers.

•For stains, stock up on white vinegar or commercial stain- and odor-neutralizing products; those with enzymes or “oxy” in the name work best. Keep some old white or light-colored cotton towels or white paper towels at hand.

•Accidents on carpeting require immediate attention. For fresh urine, blot the spot, apply a pet stain/odor remover spray or a vinegar solution (1/3 cup vinegar to 2/3 cup water), blot again and repeat as needed. For upchuck, remove residue and blot with cotton towels. Apply a detergent solution (1/4 teaspoon clear dishwashing detergent mixed with 1 cup water) and blot well. Rinse with plain water, blot and allow to dry. Whatever method you choose, test it out first on an inconspicuous spot, and try not to soak the carpet.

•Place a throw rug on your dog’s favorite resting place to keep the carpet clean, and check out the grime- and water-trapper varieties for the door. Tracked in mud should be scraped up (or allowed to dry and vacuumed up) and any stains treated ASAP.

Manor Lake Kip in California

Monday, February 15th, 2010

Thank you Christy for these wonderful photos and email!

Kip 2

Kip 1

Kip 3

Hi Kim,

Enclosed are 3 pictures of Kip!  First let me just say how much we each love him.  In my opinion he is simply the best dog ever.  What I adore the most is how he loves each member of our family uniquely!  From my husband to our 20 & 19 year old daughters, to our 12 year old active son, and last our baby girl (she is 10).  My family tells me he is glued to my hip and I like that!! Bedtime & prayers has always been special in our home and Kip tucks in the kids so sweetly!  He also does a great job helping me wake them in the mornings! Last night we wanted to see Cosmo (his dad), and we all marveled at how much we think he resembles his dad! Yet he also reminds me so much of his mom (Cheyenne) from the pictures on your website.  We wanted a “Cosmo” look-a-like and we got just that, we think.  The description on your website on Cosmo’s personality describes Kip to a tee; he has yet to go “potty” by himself, unless we are also outside cheering him on!! He loves to be with us constantly. The most joyful addition to the Chance family … he was worth the 6 month wait.  Thanks you for our “bucket of love” as one of my girlfriends nick named him, we cherish him!!  We have become the “dog people” we never thought we would become!!!

Warmly,
Christy

Everywhere we go I have to leave time to answer questions about him! Needless to say we all in love with him!! I think I fell in love the first time I say him on your site and I started to call him “Starbucks.” Anyways daily he continues to come to work at the hotel with me and has all the guests wanting to take him home! ( no way !!) Madison is using Kody as her Project Dog in the 4-H club this year. I will try to get Madison to attach a photo for you to see how perfect he is !
